It Can Happen

Oh, saddle up your horses… Come on, get ready to ride.

Some people dream about winning the lottery. Others imagine answering the knock at the door only to find the Prize Patrol standing on the other side with flowers, balloons and that great big check.

Want to know what I dream about? I dream about a letter in the mail from the Bureau of Prisons:

Dear Lynn,

This letter is to inform you that your request to correspond with inmate Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been approved under the following terms and conditions…

and a news article:

In an unprecedented move no one saw coming, an obscure internet blogger has received permission to begin correspondence with convicted bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Following his conviction for the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, which killed three and critically injured many others, Tsarnaev has been held under Special Administrative Measures in the ADX maximum security prison in Florence, Colorado. Tsarnaev received a death sentence for his crimes and his case is currently winding its way through the appeals process…

Think it can’t happen? Think again.

When God intends to do something in your life, He first gives you a desire for it.

The desire is there.

So you pray and ask.

And then you wait.

Hebrews 10:36

For you have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise.

And then you wait some more.

Galatians 6:9

And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up.

And still you wait knowing…

Proverbs 10:24

The desire of the righteous shall be granted.

And you keep on waiting…

Habakkuk 2:3

For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay.

And no matter what, you wait. No…matter…what. And the Lord sends you strong encouragement as you wait for His plan to unfold:

Jeremiah 1:12

Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it.”

So, does God ever do things like this, you ask? Yes. Yes, He does.

Started out this mornin’ in the usual way

Chasing thoughts inside my head of all I had to do today

Another time around the circle

Try to make it better than the last

I opened up the Bible and I read about me

Said I’d been a prisoner, and God’s grace had set me free

And somewhere between the pages,

It hit me like a lightning bolt:

I saw a big frontier in front of me

And I heard somebody say “Let’s go!”

When God is trying to get me to believe for big things, one way He grows my faith is by showing me what He’s already done in the lives of others.

A couple weeks ago, a friend invited me to see the movie “I Can Only Imagine.” I’m glad I went. Before I talk about the movie though, I need to say something about the secular side of the music industry.

Ephesians 5:11-12  Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;  for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.

There are numerous videos on You Tube exposing the dark underbelly of the music industry, detailing behavior so vile I could never embed one of them on this blog. Suffice it to say they contain images and stories of satanic sacrifice, immorality and criminality artists are required to participate in in order to make it big and get major airplay for their music. They are heinous beyond imagination.

If you are unaware of this dynamic, I urge you to educate yourself – from a safe distance. Watching a few You Tube videos as I did would be eye-opening; you would soon understand why no sincere Christian artist would want to make it big on the secular side as great compromise would be required. Additionally, few, if any, movers and shakers in the secular music industry seem to see much value in the talents of Christian artists anyway, to be bluntly honest.

So that’s what God caused to happen with the movie. Now listen to Mercy Me’s lead singer Bart Millard tell what God allowed to happen with the song. As you do, keep in mind what I previously revealed about the secular music industry.

Still need convincing? Still think what happened with the band, the song, the movie is a one-off, an isolated case? Ok. Fair enough. Here’s another example for you:

What really got my attention in the Toby Mac story was this series of events:

1) Secular rap music industry moguls come calling

2) Their message to Toby Mac: become a crossover artist, but tone down the gospel message in your music

3) Toby Mac responds by toning down the message and makes it big as a crossover rapper

4) Scratch that #3. This is what really happened:

3) Toby Mac responds by releasing a defiant, in-your-face Christian rap song that puts the gospel of Jesus front and center; it’s a big hit on the Christian charts

4) Secular rap industry says forget it

5) Scratch that #4. This is what really happened:

4) Secular rap industry wants them anyway and the band enjoys great success as a crossover artist with a powerful message of the gospel

If you don’t realize how amazing that is, you need to sit thru a few more You Tube documentaries about the Illuminati and their absolute control over the secular music industry. There is no room for Christians and Christian values unless God makes room – for His own purposes.

What do stories like this have to do with Dzhokhar? Plenty.

There are many who know Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is innocent and that what happened to him was a travesty. But they look at the power that resides with the people he is up against and believe it is all but hopeless to think he will ever be free.  I do not.

You know why I love true stories of  improbable things happening and impossible dreams coming true? Because when I hear them, it gives me hope for my own life and the lives of those I care about. Someday, thanks to a bunch of unknowns who refused to give up, I believe the world will see the story of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev added to that short list, giving hope to all who wait in darkness for their day in the sun.

Time to go check the mail.

  1. What an amazing article Lynn…I am one of the unknowns waiting in the shadows of the depths and lies.. Waiting for the truth to come out and for that young man to grasp his freedom again. Great ending…I loved it.
