You Don’t Say

When it comes to social media and the Tsarnaev case, I have found it is not only important to notice what people are saying. It is also prudent to notice when (at what point in this tragic event) they are saying it and finally to reflect on the most likely reason for why they are saying it. On more than one occasion, asking these questions has yielded some rather compelling insight.

When it came to girls, Dzhokhar was very different than his older brother. From his own Twitter account anyone with access to the internet could learn that Dzhokhar was no mama’s boy. When pressured by his mother to find a wife, his response “Chill, I’ll find my own honey” couldn’t have been more different than Tamerlan’s.

Tamerlan may have been the family bully in many ways, but when it came to advice about his love life, Tamerlan seemed happy to listen to mama; Dzhokhar, not so much.

I am glad to know that about him. He will need that quality in the future. When he is released, as I am certain he will be, some big decisions will await him and they will be his to make – no one else’s.

As everyone who follows this case knows, Dzhokhar has been, and remains to this day, under Special Administrative Measures or SAMs. These measures are in place for one reason and one reason only: to silence him.

Our government is guilty of criminal wrongdoing in this case on so many levels. The SAMs imposed on Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are not in place to protect the people of the United States from a dangerous terrorist who, if given the chance to correspond with the outside world, would encourage others to carry out lone wolf attacks. They are being used to keep buried the truth of what really happened. They are being used to protect those who set in motion the terrible events for which Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death.

The only way to follow the trial, when it finally happened, was on Twitter. This is how those of us who support Dzhokhar found one another. Our numbers may have dwindled. The quantity of our tweets may have diminished but I for one am undimmed in my zeal to see God’s plan for Dzhokhar come to fulfillment.

A week or so ago, someone tweeted the following:

“Truth is not diminished by the number of people who believe it.”

Those who oppose our message would do well to remember that.

When the trial began, I was new to most forms of social media. My sole purpose in creating a Twitter account was to follow the trial. Those I still speak with and trust regarding this case came onto Twitter at the same time for the same reason.

I was shocked to learn that some create multiple Twitter accounts, assuming false names, with varying genders and ages, in order to deceive, to spew forth various opinions, sometimes for and against the same topic!

That is just plain crazy to me! At my age, I have no time or interest in such games. So I pay attention to when accounts were created. I notice the number of followers and who they are. I read timelines to get a feel for what is really important to an account holder.

One or two tweets about Dzhokhar and countless more about sports and boy bands doth not a Dzhokhar supporter make!

When a trusted friend and Dzhokhar supporter made me aware of a Twitter account that claimed his father is a guard at ADX and talks to Dzhokhar, I knew immediately this was bogus – a sensational statement to garner attention.

Guards know Dzhokhar is under SAMs. They understand they are not to carry messages home about Dzhokhar. And kids of guards understand dad can’t and won’t talk about interactions with high-profile inmates like Dzhokhar. This just would never happen.  If it did, “dad” would be fired and the kid would be grounded and off social media for life – or both would be in jail for violation of the SAMs.

I knew the whole thing, the claim that “dad” talks to Dzhokhar, the claim that Dzhokhar got married… it was all made up, another sad example of someone trying to claim a connection to Dzhokhar for attention.

When this same account suddenly claimed to “know” that Dzhokhar expressed sympathy for what he had done, dredging up the whole “he admitted it” argument, I had quite a different reaction. Suddenly I began to see this relatively new account as a possible government shill.

Here’s my theory: the bombshell tweets saying daddy works at the ADX and talks to Jahar and Jahar got married were to get the attention of supporters. Sensational tidbits tend to make people pay attention.

Once people were sufficiently focused, the next step was to slide in the real message: Jahar has said things in prison in admission of his guilt.

What we have to remember is this: the government knows there will be an appeal. They know they dodged a bullet last time: they were able to secure a guilty verdict and a death sentence very easily with the biased jury Judge O’Toole guaranteed would be seated for the trial.

They aren’t so sure of another victory next time so until then they have to keep tainting whatever jury pool will decide the appeal. That will be the first trial where real evidence is presented.

In addition to keeping lies circulating about Dzhokhar’s guilt in order to influence future juries, the government is desperate to 1) discredit the remaining supporters by making as many as possible look like fools who will believe anything they hear about Dzhokhar and 2) cause any who may still be true fan girls to finally forget about Dzhokhar if they think he is married.

The bottom line is I don’t pay any attention to those who tweet nonsense. And I urge others not to either. Influencing the next jury pool is a game both sides can play. We have our own message about Dzhokhar and we must keep working to get it out there.

I would love for some, if not all, of those who make up Dzhokhar’s next jury to swear in voir dire that they can be fair and impartial while sadly and secretly reminding themselves to avoid my blog until after the trial…

O’Toole may have thanked the first jury for their service. Faith in the certainty of God’s plan for Dzhokhar being fulfilled tells me I will be thanking the second one.

There’s a rhythm in rush these days

Where the lights don’t move and the colors don’t fade

Leaves you empty with nothing but dreams

In a world gone shallow, in a world gone lean

Sometimes there’s things a man cannot know

The gears won’t turn and the leaves won’t grow

There’s no place to run and no gasoline

Engines won’t turn and the train won’t leave

I will stay with you tonight

Hold you close ’til the morning light

In the morning watch a new day rise

We’ll do whatever just to stay alive

Do whatever just to stay alive

Well the way I feel is the way I write

Isn’t like the thoughts of the man who lies

There is a truth and it’s on our side

Dawn is coming – open your eyes

Look into the sun as the new days rise

And I will wait for you tonight

You’re here forever and you’re by my side

I’ve been waiting all my life

To feel your heart as it’s keeping time

We’ll do whatever just to stay alive

Dawn is coming – open your eyes

Dawn is coming – open your eyes

Dawn is coming – open your eyes

Look into the sun as the new days rise

There’s a rhythm in rush these days

Where the lights don’t move and the colors don’t fade

There is a truth and it’s on our side

Dawn is coming – open your eyes

Look into the sun as the new days rise…

  1. Well said Lynn! Supporters don’t need these crazy distractions. The best thing is to totally ignore them. As for the sam’s, they are illegal, unjustified and unwarranted. This is just more criminal activity of the powers that be to win bogus cases so the fbi can continue to justify their ever inflated budgets and to continue to pretend that “terrorism” is alive and well in the US. They will all pay heavily for their evilness when their time on earth is over.
Dzhokhar on the other hand will be rewarded by God for enduring such cruelty and misery, and will be free one day.

  2. What is important to remember is that more people now doubt the guilt of the Tsarnaev brothers. That is a small victory. The government’s overwhelming evidence of their guilt turned out to be mysteriously proving their innocence. Genuine people who have a conscience don’t have a choice to now get interested and involved.
You are right about twitter. I created an account just to be able to follow the trial. I rarely go on tweeter anymore and use it to post new discoveries. I do not pay attention to what people are saying when I consider them the breed of people who just hide behind the truth.
If you only looked at this case through the eyes of the media you had no idea that you were being lied to. You have to read the court documents, read the trial transcripts and look at the evidence that accompany the testimony of witnesses to understand the height of this huge abuse of power by the prosecution.
For those who are discouraged, don’t be. It takes time to successfully make changes. Only with persistence do changes take place. Have confidence in your own judgement because that is what makes you a true free and intelligent human being. Don’t get pissed at trolls, pray for their soul. Don’t get distracted, stay focussed.
I want to take this opportunity to tell George A. O’Toole (I cannot bring myself to call him a Judge) that we still remember Jahar in a positive way and we are praying God to give us the strength to forgive you. In my case I can assure you that God is working overtime on me.

  3. I am grateful that you speak of SAMS and how they have Jahar silenced. The government imposed them to suppress the truth. We are not deaf or blind. I see facts of Jahar’s innocence and I refuse to stay silent. I created my account to know about the trial and intended to leave when the verdict came in. However everyday I heard the lies in court and perjury on the witness stand and how the prosecutions’ own evidence proved Jahar’s innocence and yet jury still handed out guilty verdict and the death penalty. That is when I knew I had to stay and speak of the injustice in Jahar’s trial. Today I still speak out for him and I will not be silenced. There is an innocent life on death row in solitary and under SAMS and I won’t rest until he is exonerated. These multiple accounts you speak of – I have no time for them either which is why I unfollowed many accounts that are no longer supporters and accounts that I now find irrelevant. I have no time for mind games. I really wish that account would delete his tweets about Jahar being married because it is simply false. I am hoping the appeal will bring a new trial for Jahar and I pray that God will fill the new jurors with truth and the words we will hear next time will be…
‘We the jury find Dzhokhar Anzorovich Tsarnaev…NOT GUILTY’…
Great blog as always Lynn…BTW..great song.
