We’ll Wake Up in April – Ready & Able

Oh what a difference a day can make! Yesterday several people reached out on Twitter to express dismay and concern over the intended balloon release for Jahar that is coming up on April 19th. In hindsight, I am so glad they did, for it has changed everything and taken the event in a whole new and even more meaningful direction…

There is an awakening occurring; I feel it. The darkness is being pushed back. There is a stirring taking place and we who support Dzhokhar are being led by an Almighty God, who is at the center of all that is occurring.

About nine days ago, the Lord reawakened within me an urgency to pray for Dzhokhar. I know He is being divinely protected but I know he is suffering. I know he has faith but I know he is in the test of his life. I know he wants to live but I know he is preparing himself, in the only way he knows how, to face death. I know God is sustaining him but I know each waking moment is difficult in ways I do not even want to contemplate for very long…

One of the most powerful and effective ways a Christian can pray is in the spirit, in tongues. I know mentioning this on my blog is risky for even amongst believers there is division over the subject of the gift of the Holy Spirit. And I have already been rejected and ostracized by a particular group of Christians who claim to support Dzhokhar. In light of that, it would be understandable if I were to keep silent on this matter  but I can’t anymore… I keep thinking about a certain Bible story:

 The Triumphal Entry

After He had said these things, He was going on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

When He approached Bethphage and Bethany, near the mount that is called Olivet, He sent two of the disciples saying, “Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colt tied on which no one yet has ever sat, untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, “Why are you untying it? You shall say, “The Lord has need of it.”

So those who were sent went away and found it just as He had told them. As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” They said, “The Lord has need of it.”

They brought it to Jesus, and they threw their coats on the colt and put Jesus on it. As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road. As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, shouting: “Blessed be the King who comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the very stones will cry out!”

It’s always Pharisees… and what motivates them is jealousy. I finally realized it was jealousy that had finally made me so unwelcome with that other group of Jahar supporters. Some things never change.

I want to share part of an article by Larry Sparks called “Five Ways Praying in Tongues Will Change Your Life Forever:”

One of the most controversial and, sadly, most misunderstood gifts of the Holy Spirit is praying in tongues. I am convinced that there is so much antagonism aimed at this gift because of the incredible power it releases into our lives. In the same way that many reject the prophetic ministry because of abuses, misuses and bad experiences, the same approach has been taken – perhaps in greater extremes – toward praying in tongues.

At the end of the day, we need to be honest with ourselves and honest with the Biblical text. This unique gift of the Holy Spirit actually announced the birth of Christianity on the Day of Pentecost. It was highly prized by the man who wrote the majority of the New Testament (Paul). It equips believers to communicate with God on a unique level and empowers us to effectively live the supernatural life. In short, it would make a lot of sense that the enemy would tirelessly fight against something that has such strong potential to pillage his expansion of darkness in our lives and on the earth.

It is not spooky. It is not exclusive to the super-spiritual. It does not even signify elevated spiritual maturity. Tongues is a gift. It is a tool. It is powerful, available and absolutely life-changing.

  1. Praying in tongues gives you supernatural understanding of God’s mysteries: “For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.” 1 Cor. 14:2 Corey Russell, in “The Glory Within” describes the Holy Spirit as the Google, or search engine of heaven. God is mysterious, yes, but the Spirit who knows everything about the mysterious, expansive, glorious God is the same Spirit who lives inside of you! And furthermore, He wants to reveal mysteries to you about God, His will, your life and the circumstances you are facing. How do we access this revelation? Communion with the Holy Spirit on His level – in His language. Remember, Paul defines the Holy Spirit as the One who “searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.” (1 Cor. 2:10)  As you pray in the Spirit, you will discover things that were previously mysterious and unknown will start coming into greater focus and clarity.
  2. Praying in tongues grants you access to other revelatory gifts of the Holy Spirit. “For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit… to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.” (1 Cor. 12:8,10) Praying in tongues actually unlocks other revelatory gifts of the Holy Spirit in your life, namely the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, prophecy and discerning of spirits. Remember, you are not praying on a natural dimension, but rather engaging on a purely spiritual one. Don’t be surprised if, while praying in tongues, the Holy Spirit gives you supernatural insight about something, leads you to pray for people and unlocks clarity over people, situations, and even regions, enabling you to effectively pray for and break off the spiritual strongholds that are influencing them.
  3. Praying in tongues opens up the Bible in a new, living way as you read it. “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak.” (John 16:13) For some modern believers, reading the Bible can feel like a life-draining experience. It’s not just history; it is not a mere record of facts. Scripture isn’t just stories. The same Holy Spirit who inspired the writing and assembly of the Holy Scriptures lives inside of you. He wants to guide you through the Bible, make the words jump off the page, give you understanding on confusing matters, empower you to apply God’s Word to your everyday life, share prophetic promises with you and help you discover your role in God’s unfolding story. Corey describes praying in tongues as a way the Holy Spirit shines a light on Scripture.
  4. When praying in tongues you are speaking directly to God. “For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God” (1 Cor. 14:2) As you pray in tongues, you have a direct line to the president of the universe. Sometimes while praying in our native languages, we have the tendency to veer off and get distracted. We may start complaining. We may start going through the routine laundry list of prayer requests – and by the time we are finished reading them off to God, we feel more burdened than refreshed (because we actively thought of every single one of those circumstances as we listed them off in prayer). Tongues keeps us talking directly to God, praying in agreement with His perfect will ( 8:26-28)
  5. Praying in tongues empowers you to engage spiritual warfare from the position of victory. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.” (Eph. 6:18) Praying in tongues is not some magic formula that guarantees us some free and easy lifestyle of health, wealth, prosperity and all of those fixings. Jesus assured us that in this life, we will experience tribulation (John 16:33). In the same passage, the same Jesus declared that He has overcome the world. Victory has already been secured at Calvary. In times of trial and assault, it is easy for us to become weary in the place of prayer, often not knowing what or how to pray. Praise God for the Holy Spirit! Paul reminds us “for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us.” ( 8:26) When in the heat of spiritual combat, it is easy to start praying prayers that agree with the size of the attack, emphasizing the problem rather than focusing on the size of the blood-bought victory that Jesus purchased at the cross. Praying in tongues empowers you to agree with God’s victorious battle plan for your life and your circumstances, no matter what is going on around you. It does not deny reality; it simply positions you to agree with the higher truth of Scripture: victory has been purchased, and it is yours through Jesus Christ.

Again, praying in tongues does not make you a better Christian. It does not instantly elevate you into spiritual superstardom. There are many believers who speak in tongues but live like the devil. However, tongues is a relevant and available gift to believers today. Why tongues – something that seems so foolish, uneducated and ungraspable to our natural human minds?

Keep in mind that you are dealing with the King of the Universe who arrived on Planet Earth in a manger surrounded by farm animals. He is the holy God who died the death of a criminal on a Roman cross to make atonement for the sins of the world. Our God is the One who deals in wisdom that is so infinitely superior to what our natural minds can comfortably wrap around that, at first glance, such methods appear downright foolish. Birthing His church with wind, fire and speaking in tongues would be another such demonstration of God’s otherworldly wisdom. But consider the words of the apostle Paul: “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.” (1 Cor. 1:27-29)

Just because our minds cannot understand the whys of God’s ways, that does not give us permission to ignore them. Tongues is surely a mystery, but at the same time it is a powerful gift that will not only enrich your personal prayer life but will bring you into deeper intimacy and communion with the Holy Spirit.

I have been praying in tongues for Dzhokhar for nine straight days now. At one point, a day or two ago, I suddenly found myself thinking intently about convicted shoe bomber Richard Reid. I continued praying in tongues, thinking about him, when suddenly, for no reason, I began to cry. A strong interest in looking up the facts of Richard Reid came over me. I knew almost nothing about him, other than the fact that he is also in the ADX in Colorado.

What I found was disturbing and enlightening. It proved to me once and for all, and it should prove to anyone reading this as well, that the SAMs Dzhokhar is held under, the SAMs that prevent me and others like me, from corresponding with him, are NOT in place in the interest of national security.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev continues being held under SAMs for the same indefensible reasons we have been given to explain why Dzhokhar did not take the stand at his own trial: Dzhokhar knows he is innocent. He knows what has been done to keep him quiet and by whom. He is a threat to the continued agenda of Carmen Ortiz and every person who was involved in the government-sponsored event that began long before the explosions at the Boston Marathon.

Just like informants lives are studied to uncover their weaknesses, secrets, and desires before they are carefully chosen, approached and groomed by the FBI and CIA, I believe crisis actors are selected by the same careful process – and that takes time.

In the case of the Boston Marathon bombing, the government had to be certain these people could not only follow instructions but remain forever quiet about it afterwards. They had to be sure no amount of personal remorse or public accusation could make them come clean with their real stories, which, I am coming to believe, includes name changes and the creation of fake relationships.

The government is counting on the fantastic nature of such claims to ensure that anyone who dares to make assertions will immediately be seen as a conspiracy nut job – a certified whacko. And they have a host of people willing to take to social media to express that opinion.

When all else fails, there are the usual death threats. When threats don’t work, people fall out of helicopters in training exercises, die in foreign countries in car crashes or after sudden undisclosed illnesses – all in the prime of life.

If I am wrong – God help me. If I am not – God help us all.

So what did I find when I looked into Richard Reid, the convicted shoe bomber? Here are the pertinent facts that set him in stark contrast to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev:

  1. He pled guilty in court.
  2. He stated he is the sworn enemy of the United States.
  3. He stated he is a soldier of Allah.
  4. He was actually caught in the act: In mid-flight, he was seen and overpowered while attempting to light a fuse sticking out of his shoe, a shoe that contained explosives. His admitted intent was to blow himself up along with nearly 200 others on the flight.
  5. After ten years in the ADX he has no remorse and regrets only that he failed.
  6. He stated in court that he is at war with our country (Richard Reid is British).
  7. Richard Reid is serving 3 life sentences without the possibility of parole (I would hope so) plus 110 years.
  8. While making his guilty plea, Richard Reid laughed, saying “Basically, I got on the plane with a bomb. Basically, I tried to ignite it. Basically, yeah, I intended to damage the plane.”
  9. He was combative, shouting back at the judge at sentencing and had to be dragged from the courtroom.
  10. CNN obtained intelligence documents showing Reid reported to al Qaeda’s head of military operations – Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.
  11. The death penalty was not sought in his case.
  12. He is no longer under SAMs. Reid has been corresponding with a woman who is doing research for a book she hopes to write. She says the letters show how once terrorists are radicalized, they cling to their twisted interpretation of Islam, even after more than a decade in isolation.

So imagine that – Richard Reid, sworn enemy of the United States, by his own words, is not under SAMs…

There is nothing the government can say to justify or make acceptable the fact that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev remains incarcerated under SAMs – nothing. Then again – the government expects me to believe two bombs went off and in a crowd of spectators, said bombs chose to kill three people not in close proximity to one another while leaving all those who were in close proximity to them alive. The government expects me to believe these same bombs randomly selected a small group of people for severe bodily injury to their legs while leaving scores of others who were standing close by all around them untouched.

I know that legally and politically speaking, there is little we can do to help free Dzhokhar. That is why taking part in an event like the show of support coming up on April 19th is important. Waiting for what only God can make happen, namely, exoneration and release for Dzhokhar, gets difficult sometimes. We need to be uplifted so we don’t get discouraged and quit believing.

Planting a tree, scattering seeds, letting a wreath of flowers go on a stream or other body of water, buying a star and naming it for him…all these ways have been suggested and adopted to be done on the 19th by various supporters.

I have found two amazing songs that tie in perfectly to what we are doing in honor of Dzhokhar on the 19th. Both songs are by Audrey Assad and both were released in 2012. “Show Me” is a song about redemptive suffering. As I listened to it again today, I could easily imagine Dzhokhar saying these things to us, his supporters.  The second song “Even the Winter” is our answer to him.

Dzhokhar speaks to us:

“Show Me”

 by Audrey Assad

You could plant me like a tree beside the river (Kim)

You could tangle me in soil and let my roots run wild

And I will blossom like a flower in the dessert (Julie)

But for now just let me cry

You could raise me like a banner in battle (Arvin)

Put victory like fire behind my shining eyes

And I would drift like fallen snow over the embers

But for now just let me lie

Bind up these broken bones

Mercy, bend and breathe me back to life

But not before you show me how to die

Set me like a star before the morning (Lincoln)

Like a song that steals the darkness from a world asleep

And I’ll illuminate the path you’ve laid before me

But for now just let me be

Bind up these broken bones

Mercy, bend and breathe me back to life

But not before you show me how to die

No, not before you show me how to die

So let me go like a leaf upon the water (Lynn)

Let me brave the wild currents flowing to the sea

And I will disappear into a deeper beauty

But for now, just stay with me

God, for now, just stay with me

 We answer Dzhokhar:

“Even the Winter”

By Audrey Assad

What if we find ourselves beneath the snow

Our warmest words all frozen in our throats

And all we feel is left out in the cold

You and I…

What if the days grow short and lose their light

What if the coals burn black and the embers die

And we can’t find each other in the night

You and I…

Well even the winter won’t last forever

We’ll see the morning

We’ll feel the sun

We’ll wake up in April ready and able

Holding the seeds in the soil of our love

Of our love… yeah

What if the ice we tread is just too thin

What if we can’t escape the squall we’re in

What if our hearts of stone are permanent

You and I…

Well even the winter won’t last forever

We’ll see the morning

We’ll feel the sun

We’ll wake up in April ready and able

Holding the seeds in the soil of our love

Of our love… yeah

What if the spring comes soon and we’re surprised

What if the seasons help us realize

Some things are only proven over time you know

Well even the winter won’t last forever

We’ll see the morning

We’ll feel the sun

We’ll wake up in April ready and able

Holding the seeds in the soil

Even the darkness cannot disarm us

We’ll see the morning, we’ll feel sun

We’ll break up the earth

Cause we know that it’s worth it

Sowing the seeds in the soil of our love

Of our love

Of our love

Of our love… yeah

“Some things are only proven over time you know…”

Isn’t that line uncanny? Only if you don’t believe I was meant to remember these songs and relate them to the day “we wake up in April, ready and able…”

Think about this: that song was written in 2012… a year before the government manufactured terror at the marathon… and tell me God doesn’t see all. I’ll never believe it; I know better. God saw their evil plans – and He saw us and how we would respond… in April… ready and able… sowing seeds instead of releasing balloons.

Can I get an “Amen?”

Winston Churchill said no crime is so great as daring to excel. I am ready to take that dare. An unexpected and somewhat unexplainable compassion for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has drawn me out of my comfort zone.

  1. Amen Lynn! The moment I researched what SAM’s were, I knew they were invented to wall off in secrecy, innocent people labelled “terrorists”. It’s as clear as day. When they say it’s to protect National Security, it really means to protect themselves from the public ever knowing what corrupt bastards they are, because if citizens knew the evil things that their own law enforcement agencies do (FBI, ATF, CIA etc) mayhem would surely ensue, and rightly so. The songs are beautiful and so fitting. Let’s continue to pray for Dzhokhar. I too feel a change coming.

    1. Julie, I just realized the end of the second video shows a field of wildflowers… Your field, the one you are going to sow for Dzhokhar…

  2. Amen ?? You get a Super Amen Lynn! Beautiful blog! Your words are captivating and breath taking …many times I could not see the screen due to my eyes being a waterfall. Those words and that song! Melted my heart, made me not cry but bawl my eyes out! Those words and song were perfect for the way supporters are going to support Jahar on the 19th! Many different ways and how awesome that each one that commented on how they would support Jahar ended up being in that song! I myself pray for Jahar each hour…each second that passes throughout the day. He’s the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing i think about going to bed. Jahar does not deserve to be in jail and it kills me to know he is under SAMS when he has clearly showed no violence in prison to suggest he deserves that harshness and torture that SAMS represents. I find it fascinating how you pray for Jahar Lynn. How God speaks to you and every time he does something amazing happens. I agree with you Lynn how the govt planned out this event and how suddenly these suspicious deaths happen like falling from helicopters and car crashes and how odd these bombs chose certain victims yet some standing right next to them were untouched. Something I will never understand and find incredibly odd. But for now this blog is honoring Jahar and his innocence and leading up to the anniversary of his capture and the final day he had his freedom… For now. One day we will celebrate his exoneration. Until then true supporters stick to fighting for his life and the truth…that Jahar Tsarnaev is INNOCENT! Great blog Lynn!!!! Talk about Cry Me A River…cause that is just what I did.💖
