Name That Character – Now With Answers

The answers have now been posted! You will find the correct name next to each scripture reference heading. I know some who read my blog take issue with the fact that I say God speaks to me. However I will never hide the fact that He does. The verses for the following entities were given to me directly by the Lord: Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Carmen Ortiz, Judge O’Toole, God, the prosecution and for Lynn@iwasleah10years. All other scriptures were chosen by me as being appropriate for that entity.

Although this quiz was done partly to have a little fun, I hope it has become obvious to readers that God is aware and active in the events and lives that comprise this tragedy.  Though He has spoken clearly to me that certain specific individuals will pay dearly for their wickedness, there is one more scripture I must include to properly represent the heart and character of my God:  2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but all to come to repentance.” This includes Carmen Ortiz, Judge O’Toole and the members of the prosecution. It includes government officials who have been complicit in this crime. God is a God of justice and of mercy and will freely pardon all who come to him in sincere repentance no matter how deep their sins. He promises in Isaiah 1:18 “Come let us reason together,” says the Lord: “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.”  I personally am counting on that being true! “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:23

Welcome to “Name That Character.” To play, simply match the list of characters in the first section to the most appropriate Bible verse in the second section by determining which verse best describes their actions, role, character, experience or future as it relates to the Boston Marathon bombing. I will post the correct answers on Tuesday.

I have endeavored to list the characters, as much as possible, in the order of their involvement. (Let the reader understand.) I gave God top billing for obvious and positive reasons. I am in no way saying He was responsible for this tragedy.

“The cowering prisoners will soon be set free; they will not die in their dungeon, nor will they lack bread.”

Isaiah 51: 7-8  DZHOKHAR SUPPORTERS

“Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts: Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool.”

Psalm 37: 35 – 36  CARMEN ORTIZ

Psalm 38:12  FBI/CIA

“Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

Isaiah 29:24  THE TROLLS

“Those who err in mind will know the truth, and those who criticize will accept instruction.”

Isaiah 46: 10-11  GOD!

“I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do.”

Isaiah 29:20-21  THE PROSECUTION

“For the ruthless will come to an end and the scorner will be finished, indeed all who are intent on doing evil will be cut off; who cause a person to be indicted by a word, and ensnare him who adjudicates at the gate, and defraud the one in the right with meaningless arguments.”

Habakkuk 2:2-3   LYNN@IWASLEAH10YEARS

“Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets that the one who reads it may run. For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay.”

Proverbs 18:24 SALTEDMUFFINS & B@FREEDZHOKHAR93

“There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

Psalm 140:2-3    U.S. GOVERNMENT

“Who devise evil things in their hearts; they continually stir up wars. They sharpen their tongues as a serpent; poison of a viper is under their lips.”

Psalm 35:11  AZA, ROBEL, DIAS, KHAIR & IBRAGIM

“False witnesses stepped forward and questioned me concerning things about which I knew nothing.”

Psalm 38: 13-14   THE SAMs

“I am like a deaf man, who cannot hear, like a mute, who cannot open his mouth; I have become like a man who does not hear, whose mouth can offer no reply.”

Psalm 56:1, 6   LAW ENFORCEMENT

“Be merciful to me, O God, for men hotly pursue me; all day long they press their attack. They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps, eager to take my life.”

Psalm 10  JUDGE O’TOOLE

“Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises. He boasts of the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord. In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. His ways are always prosperous; he is haughty and your laws are far from him; he sneers at all his enemies. He says to himself, “Nothing will shake me; I’ll always be happy and never have trouble.” His mouth is full of curses and lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue. He lies in wait near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent, watching in secret for his victims. He lies in wait like a lion in cover; he lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net. His victims are crushed, they collapse; they fall under his strength. He says to himself, “God has forgotten; he covers his face and never sees.” Arise, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless. Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself, “He won’t call me to account?” But you, O God do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless. Break the arm (power) of the wicked and evil man; call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out. The Lord is King forever and ever; the nations will perish from his land. You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may cause terror no more.”

No Bad Days

There’s a farmer in a wheat field
Prayin’ for rain
There’s a mother in mournin’
And a child that’s in pain
Sufferin’ and hard times
When you’re down on your luck
But it ain’t in the fallin’
It’s in the gettin’ back up

As long as your heart’s beatin’
There’s no bad days
You got somethin’ to believe in…
There’s no bad days
As long as you’re dreamin’ – reachin’ – seekin’
Make no mistake
But as long as you’re breathin’
There’s no bad days

When the sun just ain’t shinin’
And there’s no hand in sight
Have faith in the shadows
That you’ll find light
It’s amazin’ the view
When you’re down on your knees
You may not get what you want
But you get what you need

As long as your heart’s beatin’
There’s no bad days
You got somethin’ to believe in…
There’s no bad days
As long as you’re dreamin’ – reachin’ – seekin’
Make no mistake
But as long as you’re breathin’
There’s no bad days

  1. Haha!! This is awesome Lynn!! I got two wrong!! Who would of known. My mess up was 0rtiz and O’Toole. I had them backwards. I had it right at first andcthen decided to change it the last minute. My mom always told me…always go with your first instinct…in this case she was right😺
Great blog Lynn…this was fun. A break to have a little fun away from all hard work. Thanks for that Lynn…the mind you have to find the exact verse to match the character. Awesome job!! My favorites were Dzhokhar’s ….yours…and thanks Lynn for my verse. I loved it…I will hold that verse very close to my heart💓
So proud of your dedication Lynn…

    1. Getting connected with great people like you is one obvious blessing coming from this tragedy! The Lord sure had a stern warning for O’Toole and Ortiz didn’t He?

      1. Blessed to have found a friend in you too Lynn😸 from this tragedy. Oh yes…I’m very sure God is not happy with O’Toole nor Ortiz. They’ll have summer all year round & forever….

  2. On three separate occasions the Lord spoke to me about Dzhokhar and each time He would direct me to the same long passage of scripture by speaking a different short part of it. I would then look it up and each time it would end up being same passage that ends with the verse saying “The cowering prisoners will soon be set free…” Isn’t that exciting?! Three times!!!!

  3. This is so great Lynn! I wanted to try it myself , but didn’t have time. Each one is so appropriate, but especially Ortiz, the jury, FBI/CIA, US gov, the prosecution, the defense and of course O’Toole. Lynn@IwasLeah is pretty awesome too! However my very favorite, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev: “The cowering prisoners will soon be set free; they will not die in their dungeon, nor will they lack bread.” This is beautiful and hopeful. Thank you for this blog Lynn!
